The Art of Praying Mantis Kung Fu dates back more than 300 years to the final period of the Ming Dynasty. It is comprised
of the best techniques from seventeen styles of Northern Shaolin Kung Fu, Mantis hands and Monkey footwork. The main attributes
of this system are strength, agility, speed, aggression and the quick, perpetual movement of the hands and feet. |

The Wu Tan Canada Chinese Martial
Arts Center has been in existence for the past 15 years and is part of the Wu Tan International organization.
In Ottawa, the Center operates out of Carleton University and Algonquin College. In Montreal, there are classes in Brossard.
Many of the members have won many medals in various local and international tournaments. |
The head instructor is Sifu John Hum who teaches Northern Praying Mantis, Baji, Piqua, Taiji, Hung Gar
and San Shou (Chinese kickboxing). Sifu Hum started his training at the age of 8 and holds black belts in Shotokan Karate,
TaeKwonDo and Kajukenpo. His teachers include Master Su Yu Chang and the late Grandmaster Liu Yun Chiao of the Wutan International
Chinese Martial Arts organization which has schools in Taiwan, Japan, Canada, Calif. NY, Spain, and Holland. Sifu Hum
is one of the key organizers of the Martial Arts Gala 2004 and has been a coordinator for countless other demos, workshops
and shows.
